CHS Wins 3rd Place Duet State Championship
Qualification for the TFA State Speech & Debate Tournament is a very challenging process, involving students advancing in their event(s) from prelims to semis and on to final rounds, where they are awarded points toward State qualification until they reach the required 12 points, according to a chart based on event entries and placing. Students compete at speech tournaments throughout the year, from September to February, against 1A to 6A schools from north Texas, around the State, or even against schools who travel to Texas from other states for the tournament.
CHS has proudly qualified students for the State Tournament each year for its 8-year history, has won four first place Championships, and has even placed in the Top Ten Schools in the state twice. This year, our qualifiers, Coach and guest sponsor traveled to El Paso, TX to Franklin High School, March 4-8, 2015 to compete, and we are VERY proud to CONGRATULATE senior students, SARAH & ALEXIS, for winning the 3rd place Duet Acting State Championship out of over 76 entries from around the state! Messages were about getting involved with clubs and activities at your school, staying away from toxic relationships, and giving of your time and words to those who may not realize how much it can change lives to do so. Other members of the Speech and Debate Team worked our Elective table and had a great time being involved with this fantastic and worthwhile project. THANK YOU to Mr. Spain, and also to Ms. Maphies for her support and encouragement of our speakers and our Team!
